Mouton Cadet was born in 1930 thanks to Baron Philippe de Rothschild—the bold mind behind one of Bordeaux’s most iconic wine families. He wanted to share the spirit of Bordeaux wines with more people, without all the fuss or the high price tag. Truly a little brother - “Cadet” means “younger son” in French, which is fitting. It’s the more relaxed, everyday sibling to the family’s fancy château wines.

Mouton Cadet blends classic Bordeaux varietals—Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon - into smooth, fruit-forward wines tailored to modern tastes. The wines are vinified under strict quality control by the Baron Philippe de Rothschild winemaking team, ensuring consistency and elegance year after year.
The Wines
- Mouton Cadet Rouge - Pierre – Medium-bodied red with notes of black cherry, blackberry, and hints of vanilla and spice. A reliable Bordeaux for casual dinners and entertaining.
- Mouton Cadet Blanc - Nathan – A fresh and vibrant while, often made with Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, showcasing citrus, green apple, and floral notes.
